Can a washer and dryer still function if it has been in storage for 2 years?

I bought a brand new washer and dryer set from SEARS back in October 2005.  I had to put it storage in December 2005 and has been in storage ever since.  I'm not a washer and dryer guru but will the washer/dryer still work after these years being stored in a storage?

washers that haven't been used in awhile usually have their pumps sieze up. you may have to replace the pump

Yes. Your water valve could bad from sitting up check your hoses for dryrott so you dont have a leak and dryer should be fine you might get a burning smell from dust on the heater coil or possible bug nest but that will go away quickly you should be good to do the laundry.

You should have no problem with the dryer, now hook up the washer and run it with no clothes to water test it for leaks. this first test you should not leave the equipment alone in case  you find it does leak. if it starts leaking put it in the spin cycle to drain out the water.
